Climate Change, prolonged State governmental inaction, the mining of North Shore sand and overall beach mismanagement of maintaining our precious shorelines have fueled an unfolding environmental crisis at several iconic beaches on the North Shore. Once celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, many World-renowned beaches on the North Shore are now facing severe erosion. This jeopardizes the stability and loss of the shoreline, the delicate ecosystems of the surrounding areas and waters and the community that lives on or near the shoreline.

SPC was successful in working within the North Shore community and government officials as well as our State Representative to help pass Hawai’i House Bill 2248. This crucial bill is an important step towards addressing beach erosion, protecting beach recreational access and sea life preservation while maintaining our North Shore community.
