Who We Are

Our Shared Vision:

SPC is committed to protecting the beaches of Hawai’i, preserving and maintaining shorelines, safeguarding the rights of property owners, and protecting precious sea life.

SPC Mission Statement

Shoreline Preservation Coalition (SPC) is a Hawai’i-specific 501(c)4 non-profit corporation whose mission is to educate, advocate and develop working relationships with the elected officials, the community and the necessary government departments for fair and balanced shoreline solutions. To serve as a social welfare organization devoted to preserving shorelines in the State of Hawai’i and seeking positive solutions with realistic objectives. The ultimate mission is preserving shorelines and to continue to share and give testimony at various public and governmental meetings.  We communicate with applicable governmental departments, legislators, property owners, engineers and specialists in the field of shoreline preservation – all the time sharing this information with our members keeping them up to date and informed.

Our Position

The cherished beaches on the Oahu’s North Shore, such as Sunset Beach, Kammies Beach, Rocky Point, and Ehukai beaches, face a dire environmental crisis. Climate change, government mismanagement and inaction have driven severe erosion, resulting in multiple homes collapsing into the ocean. Debris from these collapses endangers marine life, beachgoers, and the delicate ecosystem of our shorelines. Additionally, damaged cesspools threaten to pollute the pristine turquoise waters, escalating the urgency for intervention.

SPC is leading the fight to save these beaches. Thanks to lobbying and advocacy efforts by SPC and your donations, House Bill HB2248 was passed, securing $1 million for a comprehensive shoreline study slated to begin in December 2025. While this is a crucial step in the right direction, immediate emergency measures are needed to prevent further devastation and more loss of shoreline before the study’s results are implemented.

We are dedicated to safeguarding these beaches and all beaches around the State through research, policy reform and community action. Join us in protecting these treasured shorelines, their ecosystems, and the shoreline community from disappearing forever. Together, we can ensure the survival of these beaches for the public, the community who lives here and for the generations that will come.
