Demanding Action for the North Shore:
SPC is fighting for fair and equitable government shoreline preservation policies for the North Shore community and shoreline property owners.
Despite the State’s commitment to preserving Hawai’i’s beaches through programs like the Small Scale Beach Nourishment Program (SSBN), the North Shore has been neglected. While Waikiki Beach has received two multimillion-dollar sand restoration projects in the past decade and 22 other beaches across the islands have been “saved,” North Shore beaches continue to erode.
This imbalance is unjust. The State and City are mandated to maintain Hawai’i’s public resources, yet the beaches of the North Shore are disappearing without intervention. SPC is advocating for the inclusion of North Shore beaches in the SSBN program to ensure their survival for future generations.
The Shoreline Preservation Coalition (SPC) is raising awareness, mobilizing the community, and pressuring the State to extend beach nourishment efforts to the North Shore. Through outreach and collaboration, we aim to bring equitable shoreline preservation to all of Hawai’i.
Join our mission so the community members of the North Shore has a voice. Whether through donations or membership, your support can make a difference in saving these beaches. Together, we can demand fair shoreline policies.
